we are dedicated to filling the gap and tearing down the barriers for accessing breast/human milk for our melanated babies. Our partnership with Leche allows us to provide Black families with more options for having access to breast/human milk.

the blkbry and leche friendship supports the continuation of our mission to bridge the gap for Black families to receive donor milk at no cost and no prescription necessary. We are able to provide freeze-dried donor milk in 8 gram sachets for a short-term period.

The freeze-dried milk is sourced from trusted donors. Leche’s donors are breastfeeding mothers/lactating parents in the USA. Their US-based donors are pre-screened, blood tested by a medically-approved laboratory, and donor milk is triple-tested for safety and nutritional standardization. There are numerous benefits regarding the use of freeze-dried milk (check out the slideshow below), and it is to ship, store, travel with, and prepare.

Instructions regarding the storage and use of freeze-dried milk:

Store in a cool, dry place.
Do not exceed the recommended water to powder ratio.
Mix well to fully dissolve powder.
Do not microwave.
Discard reconstituted, unrefrigerated product after 1 hour.
Discard leftover product after feeding.
Use as directed by a physician.

so... who is eligible to request freeze-dried donor milk from blkbry + guidelines?

Must be a BLACK Family (with a Black birthing or Black lactating parent).
Babies less than a year old
In the event of a shortage, priority goes to babies less than three months old or who have critical medical conditions will be served first.
Family must reside in Washington State (but we are working to expand to other states)

Please note that donor milk may not available for long-term use. It is meant to be used as a resource to help you transition to your permanent feeding plan. If you're a Black lactating parent, BLKBRY will connect you to a lactation specialist to support your lactation and feeding journey. Think of it as a bridge between your short-term needs of today and your long-term plans for the future. There are instances where BLKBRY will attempt to secure milk for long-term use on a case by case basis.
